Frequently Asked Questions

When I click on the search results, nothing happens.
A handful of other users have reported issues with search results links in Internet Explorer 6. Try changing one of your browser's security settings by following these steps:
1. In the "Tools" menu in IE6, click on "Internet Options."
2. Go to the "Security" tab and click the "Custom Level" button.
3. Scroll down the menu to "Navigate sub-frames across different domains" and select "Enable."
4. Click "OK," and if prompted, click "Yes" in the box that asks "Are you sure you want to change the security settings for this zone?"
5. Restart your browser.

How come some sites and images require a login?
Please note that we provide search results and do not own the content shown, including the journal images. Therefore, if a particular link requires a login, it is due to the policy of the site, independent of Yottalook. Our Yottalook Images engine will allow one to preview the images searched but will not allow access to full content if subscription is required and the user does not have subscription; this is based on individual journal publisher's policy, independent of Yottalook. We do not provide bypassing of any login requirements. Many journal images are free after a certain period of time and require no subscription. We have tried to identify those that require subscription with a red text: "Subscription May Be Required". For the Images engine, we have recently implemented a new filtering option, called "No Subscription Mode". If you prefer not to get image results where subscriptions are required, please turn this option on and it will maximize results that do not require subscriptions.

Why am I getting the following error message?

This error message has been seen by many users of Google Custom Search Engine (for Yottalook, Yottalook Web and Yottalook Anatomy) and is not unique to Yottalook. It is still unclear as to exact cause of this error message (as users may see this even if not making automated queries), and we are keeping a close eye on the Google CSE forum for answers/solutions.

How can I add Yottalook search box to my browser?
